Rebecca Welton went to visit a strange psychic and get predictions of her future in Ted Lasso’s fifth episode of the season. But what exactly was the AFC Richmond owner told would happen to her in Season 3?
The third season of Ted Lasso has been a difficult one for many of the characters in the show, with an added focus on the mental health struggles the players and staff are facing, we are seeing much growth and development in each of these figures.
One character who has had it very tough in Season 3 is AFC Richmond owner Rebecca Welton. On top of trying to inspire a struggling team and head coach, she has also been trying to balance her complicated personal life in the latest episodes.
Awkward exchanges with her ex-husband and West Ham owner, Rupert Mannion, have become more and more inevitable with their clubs’ budding rivalry, following Nate Shelley’s departure, and it has taken a noticeable toll on Rebecca’s mental health.
What did the Psychic say to Rebecca?
In an attempt to address her concerns and the concerns of others around her, she visited a psychic named Tish, after her mother’s request in Episode 3 of the season. Rebecca was clearly skeptical of the process but still went along in hopes that things would turn around for her in some way. But, she was left utterly appalled by what Tish told her.
After some pleasantries and a discussion on the Japanese art of Kintsugi, mending broken objects using gold, the psychic revealed a few visions of Rebecca’s future. She started by describing a “special object…A Green Matchbook” and also uttering a misspoken phrase about a “Knight in Shining armor.” Instead calling it “Nining Armor.” Surprisingly, both of these unusual predictions have now happened in the Ted Lasso series.

Rebecca began to call her crazy after processing her wild predictions but was interrupted with more claims from Tish: “It’s thunder and lightning and you.” she added, grabbing Rebecca’s hands, “You’re upside down and you’re drenched. But you’re safe.”
By this point, it was too much for the Richmond owner but on her wait out she was given one last bit of crucial information, that she would soon be a mother: “You will have a family, you’re going to be a mother.” However, feeling that Tish was delusional, Rebecca was hurt by the claims and lashed out in response by calling her “dangerous and cruel” before leaving.
The Green Matchbox and Nining Armor
As we’ve seen in Episodes 4 and 5 of Ted Lasso, it seems the psychic’s prediction is possibly coming true. It started with the appearance of the green matchbooks from Ola’s restaurant that Sam had given out to each of the guests on opening night.
The green matchbook has caused Rebecca to reflect on the psychic’s words at multiple points during the new Ted Lasso episodes. And, she was left even more bewildered when she ran into one of her former dates, whose fiance botched the phrase “Knight in Shining Armor” while talking about him.
Despite going to the doctor in the latest episode and, seemingly, receiving negative results about her chances of becoming pregnant, the psychic didn’t explicitly say that she had to become pregnant to be a mother. However, the exact details of Rebecca’s future will likely become more clear as the season progresses.
So with the “Nining Armor” and the “Green Matchbox” both revealing themselves already, we can expect Rebecca to find herself in a thunder storm in a future episode, drenched by rain and suspended upside down for some odd reason.
Perhaps, this is where she will meet someone she will start a family with, or recognize that she is destined to connect with someone we are already familiar with. As to who that might be, all we can do is speculate until more is revealed in a future episode.
