Is Only Murders in the Building’s Arconia being left behind?

Oliver putnam walking only murders in the building arconia season 3

Only Murders in the Building has brought new life to the mystery genre in its first two seasons with the intriguing dynamic, and backgrounds, of Mabel, Oliver, and Charles. But will Season 3 of the popular Hulu show’s storyline start to outgrow the iconic Arconia building the characters first started in or will it evolve alongside them?

What started out as unexpecting comedy series on Hulu has started to raise the bar in the mystery genre for its incredible writing, and strong performances from the main cast of Selena Gomez, Martin Short, and Steve Martin. This narrative features an unlikely group of characters all coming together to create a murder mystery podcast and solve crimes.

They will now look to improve upon the story yet again after Season 2’s cliffhanger finale revealed that the show would be back with more murders and a greater star-studded cast in the next installment. The second season wraps after the surprise death of Ben Glenroy who, is yet to be properly introduced but, will be played by Ant-Man star Paul Rudd.

Since much of the previous seasons’ storylines were dependent on the characters all being located in the same place, is it possible for the story to continue to evolve while the characters remain tethered to the Arconia in future seasons?

Will the Arconia be in Season 3?

Yes, from the trailers and other rumors, much of Season 3 is expected to take place in and around the Arconia building. As it has done for the first two seasons, the group will likely converge in one of their apartments to parse through all the available clues they have come across in their next mystery.

They have also used it as a place to record audio for their regular podcast series but, with the success of their show, we may see them move into their own studio space very soon. We have already seen this New York landmark reveal secret passageways, serial killers, and more, so who knows what other secrets it may hold.

However, In the final episode of the second season, we saw the apparent death of Ben Glenroy on stage, and it is one of the first times we have seen these tragic events take place outside or far from the building’s premises. This could be hinting that Steve Martin and the other writers are giving themselves some more room to move around the city from Season 3 onward, and not limiting themselves to…well, only murders in the building.

Will Only Murders move on from the Arconia?

The Arconia will likely always have a place in the hit TV show, but it will have to keep evolving as more seasons are added. We have already seen the writers working on this with Nina Lin taking over many of Bunny’s duties in Season 2 and with new residents like Paul Rudd and Meryl Streep’s characters joining the mix, we can probably expect similar changes for the next season as well.

While all the future murders might not be limited to happening in this one area, the Arconia could continue to function as their base of operations and play a major role in the tales of future seasons. There are also too many characters that we have to come to love, or hate, in the building. From Howard Morris to Uma Heller, Nina Lin, and more, there are a whole host of unusual and hilarious personalities connected to the building

A crazy alternative could include something happening to the building, forcing them all to move to another particular building where even crazier events take place, however, this idea seems quite unlikely, and there are little signs pointing to it leading this way as of yet. But with all the twists the first seasons have thrown at us, we have come to expect the unexpected with this show.
