Lucasfilm Games is teaming up with Ubisoft and Massive to bring Star Wars its first ever Open World RPG title, Star Wars Outlaws. The new game and its title was officially revealed with a cinematic trailer during the Xbox Games Showcase. So when can we expect it to release?
Since it was first confirmed that Ubisoft and Massive would get a chance at developing a story-driven open world RPG title for Star Wars. Many fans of the Lucasfilm franchise have been eagerly awaiting the latest news and updates on what it might entail.
Now, thanks to the Xbox Games Showcase on June 11, we know a bit more about the characters involved, some of the planets we can travel to, and what kind of gameplay action might be possible once the title finally becomes available for players.
What is Star Wars Outlaws about?
Star Wars Outlaws will be a story-driven title that focuses on the adventures of a character named Kay Vess. From the first look at the trailer, much of her journey will lead her to the underworld of planets, such as Kijimi from The Rise of Skywalker, where she’ll be forced to deal with outlaws, as the title suggests.
According to the Star Wars Outlaws blog post, much of the story will focus on her attempting a grand-scale heist, which could be against the crime syndicates at large, between the events of The Empire Strikes Back and Return of the Jedi: “Kay is looking to attempt one of the biggest heists the Outer Rim has ever seen, all in an effort to start a new life.” Lucasfilm revealed.
Other characters that have been revealed in the World Premiere trailer include a mysterious Commando Droid in a trench coat, which is one of the most intriguing details that the developers revealed. There is also a character named Jaylen who seems to be the one with the proposition of this big heist we can expect in-game, and, of course, the small companion known as Nix.
When is Outlaws game release date?
Star Wars Outlaws will be released sometime in 2024. As of now, there’s no indication whether it will be the beginning or the end of the year. Lucasfilm, Ubisoft, and Massive have kept the release window as large as possible so that they can be free to adjust if there are any delays in production.
More details about the exciting open-world game will be released over the coming days, however, and there will be much to look forward to, especially with a gameplay trailer expected to be released on June 12, which should give us a better idea of how it will look.
