The season 3 finale of the Ted Lasso series will unveil some answers to a major cliffhanger in Episode 11, with Ted expected to drop a “Truth Bomb” on his boss and AFC Richmond owner, Rebecca Welton. So, what could Ted tell Rebecca and how will this Truth Bomb impact their characters’ story arc?
Ted Lasso’s penultimate episode of Season 3 titled “Mom City,” was very much as described, with the introduction of both Ted Lasso and Jamie Tartt’s mothers arriving on-screen to help them navigate and overcome some of their built-up emotions, during the week of their match with Premier League powerhouse Manchester City.
The Richmond coach took even took some lessons from his star player’s approach to dealing with his parents, and afterward, he seemed revitalized and more confident in himself than ever. The final sequence of the episode also left us with a cliffhanger, that now has everyone eager for the season finale.
What happened with Ted and Rebecca?
During his first day back at the stadium after the Manchester City match, Ted was surprised to find Rebecca waiting for him in his office. She reminded him that at the exact same time, the years before, she had delivered him some major news, about her scheme to destroy Rupert’s former club, A.F.C. Richmond, and about her relationship with Sam, and felt like it was time to offer up another confession.
She was either hesitant or shy this time around but she was unable to share anything with the head coach. She claimed that nothing was readily available for her to disclose to him. This is where Ted Lasso jumped in and revealed that he had something he wanted to get off his chest.
Ted explained that he had a truth bomb of his own but before he could get a chance to reveal it to Rebecca and the viewers, the episode ended, leaving us all wondering what might come next. Could this be setting up Ted to reveal his feelings for Rebecca, that he is planning on heading back to the US, or something else entirely?
What will the Truth Bomb be in Ted Lasso finale?
The most anticipated outcome of the upcoming truth bomb, for fans of the show anyway, is that Rebecca and Ted will confess their feelings for one another and that it will potentially lead them into a budding relationship for the series-ending episode.
However, during Ted Lasso’s mom’s visit, it was hinted that he may be set for a trip back to Kansas. His mom revealed that his son Henry had been missing him at home, and that could be enough for Ted to consider retirement and at least move closer to the US. Of course, Ted would need a replacement but with the return of Nate to Richmond, it seems the most likely outcome overall.
The Truth Bomb could also lead us to a bizarre twist that no one is expecting or maybe a mix of everything mentioned all at once. For now, all we can do is speculate until the Season and series finale arrives on Wednesday, May 31 on AppleTV.
