What We Do in the Shadows is set to return to Hulu’s streaming platform for a fifth season. But, this time around, we may finally see Guillermo live out his dream of becoming a vampire. What will Guillermo’s Vampire storyline look like and could he end up being even stronger than the original cast of characters, Nadja, Nandor, and Laszlo?
From the moment we were introduced to Guillermo in What We Do in the Shadows, it was made clear that his number one goal was to serve Nandor as his familiar so that he could eventually be made into one himself, and live out his dream of being immortal.
Throughout the seasons, Guillermo has been strung along by the Vampire trio, never quite getting the recognition that he felt he deserved for keeping the house afloat during all of the chaos and obstacles they faced. But, in the final scene of season 4, it was revealed that he had made alternative plans to finally become a vampire.
What will Guillermo do as a vampire?
Guillermo revealed his plans to reconnect with Derek, one of his former vampire hunter friends from Season 2, and literally cash in the favor of making him a vampire for a massive amount of money, that Guillermo had saved up from his various pursuits like embezzling money from the club.
What Guillermo will do with this new power is yet to be revealed, but the fact that he is freeing himself from his bond to Nandor the Relentless will set up quite an interesting dynamic in the upcoming season. This could set up a potential revenge arc for Guillermo against the vampires who withheld this lifestyle from him for so long.
While there is likely to be some tension with his former housemates, it will also be interesting to see if he will look to the ranks of the Vampiric Order. Knowing the potential that he has, this transformation could set a target on his back and be worrying for other vampires globally.
Will Guillermo be stronger than Nadja, Laszlo, and Nandor?
We have already seen the extraordinary abilities that Guillermo possesses simply from his extended familial ties to Van Helsing, which gives him incredible killer instincts and allows him to combat vampires even in his human form. But now the question is if his superior genetics and unique blood will compound with the Vampire powers. Could we see him transform into some unique form of vampire that we have yet to see in the series?
We know that there are many different types of vampires in What We Do in the Shadows, as seen from the likes of Colin Robinson, the energy vampire, and ancient vampires like The Sire. If Guillermo does become a vampire it would be hard to believe that his heritage would not have any major effect on the form he ends up with.
It is unclear what this could look like, but with stronger human blood, it could make sense for him to still roam around freely during the day and get the best of both worlds, along with unique powers. Unfortunately, we will simply have to wait to see exactly how it manifests on-screen. The fifth season is expected to arrive on Hulu on July 13.
