Will Starkiller be in Ahsoka? New images spark debate

New images from the upcoming Ahsoka series on Disney Plus have been revealed in the latest Empire Magazine edition. But one photo, in particular, has sparked major debate amongst Star Wars fans, leading to many theories about who is hidden under the black mask and wielding an inquisitor saber. Some believe it might be Starkiller from the Force Unleashed game series, but who else could appear in Ahsoka?

The continuation of Ahsoka Tano’s arduous journey is set to continue with the release of a new Star Wars series this Fall. The Padawan of Anakin Skywalker has one of the most intriguing storylines of any Jedi character, especially with the possibilities of the World Between Worlds and the Great Beyond being included from the Rebels’ Thrawn arc.

We can also expect to see some new characters in the Disney Plus show. Early teasers and trailers have already given us a brief look at what will come. In the latest batch of stills released from Empire Magazine, we even got a preview of what seems to be a new Sith Inquisitor in the show. So, who is this mysterious dark side user and why are they still around years after the Empire’s fall?

Ahsoka images confirm Starkiller’s arrival?

One of the leading theories behind this Sith Inquisitor character is that they are quite unique and different from the Inquisitors we have previously seen in the franchise’s Jedi game series, Obi-Wan Kenobi and the Rebels shows. This leaves us with only a few known characters that could be around at this time and one of them is an old Legends character called Galen Marek or ‘Starkiller’.

In the force unleashed games, Starkiller was an orphaned boy who grows up to become the apprentice of Darth Vader. Vader’s intent was to use him and overthrow the Emperor like he eventually did with his son Luke Skywalker in the Original Trilogy. Of course, The Force Unleashed’s clashing storyline was never viewed as canon but could an alternate version of Galen Marek come into play?

The armor worn in the exclusive Ahsoka image is slightly similar to Starkiller’s Sith but the helmet is noticeably different. We have seen many changes from games and animation to live-action so it is impossible to rule it out. Also with little known about the Worlds Between Worlds and its power, is it possible that this inquisitor could come from another time?

Who could the Inquisitor be in Ahsoka?

After the release of the new stills for the upcoming Star Wars series, three main theories have come to the forefront. As mentioned, Starkiller from the Force Unleashed games would be one of the favorite choices, due to the popularity of the character, but there are other viable options

During the animated Clone Wars series, there was another Jedi Padawan who had a similar trajectory as Ahsoka and that was Barriss Offee. Offee’s path ultimately led her to become a rival of Ahsoka’s, falling to the dark side and attempting to frame Ahsoka, which fractured her relationship with the Jedi Council. It was never revealed what happened to Offee after the Empire’s rise, but seeing her return as an Inquisitor could make a lot of sense.

The Eighth Brother is probably the character with the most likeness to the mysterious dark side user that was teased, and as a result, maybe the most likely candidate. Eighth Brother has also appeared in Rebels and has already dueled Ahsoka but he also fell to what seemed to be his death. If he somehow survived, he would be one of the few with knowledge of Ezra Bridger and Ahsoka’s survival to this point.

Another guess is that the Inquisitor will be from another Star Wars timeline, which could still fit with the possibility of Starkiller’s arrival and explain why we haven’t heard anything about him in canon. There is also some speculation that it could be Ezra. But for now, we will just have to wait for Lucasfilm to release more information on what fans can expect from the Ahsoka series.
